Cash for Clunkers in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana
The Jeff Wyler Automotive Family was a leader with the original Cash for Clunkers program launched in June of 2009, with the very first dealership website in the country detailing the incentive. The original program was called "CARS", which stands for "Car Allowance Rebate System", and was introduced to replace older, low MPG vehicles with new, more efficient models, while allowing the consumer to claim as much as $4,500 towards the purchase of a new vehicle based upon their trade-in vehicle.Â
Cash for Clunkers was a great success, helping to accelerate the US economy while raising the average MPG by 58%. The Jeff Wyler Automotive Family was able to help customers in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana to navigate their way through this complex program and maximize their savings while getting a new car. We are here again to lead the way with Cash for Clunkers 2.0 in 2020.
What would Cash for Clunkers 2.0 look like? Senator Chuck Schumer discussed this in a recent New York Times Op-Ed, proposing to "rapidly phase out gas-powered vehicles and replace them with zero-emission, or "clean," vehicles like electric cars. The goal of the plan, which also aims to spur a transformation in American Manufacturing, is that by 2040 all vehicles on the road should be clean." One would likely conclude that a modern Cash for Clunkers 2.0 with Schumer's vision would focus on electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles to help reach a "cleaner" environmental goal.
Ford has been outspoken with encouraging Congress to consider a new Cash for Clunkers 2.0 to help spur new car sales while creating jobs and driving stability within the automotive industry.Â
